Guru Developer x 2
We don’t care which college you went to or which subjects you studied. Smoking a cigar in the company of an intern (with or without inhaling) does not disqualify. But we do care that you have at least 7+ years professional development experience. You are currently probably in a role where colleagues defer to you on just about everything technical. You are capable of taking a project from 20 sketches with crayons on A4 sheets and smelling the size of the project and where the problem/challenge areas are likely to be. You can also see the gaps quickly - the areas where the requirements indicated are ‘thin on the ground’ or where insufficient detail is likely to cause problems.
These positions are not for ‘managers’ nor for those who like being ‘managed’. These are down and dirty programming roles for veterans. We’re calling it straight here - we love REAL PROGRAMMERS. If you have been offered the role of “Architect” or “Lead Developer” but turned it down because you would have to give up developing then we should talk. If the “next step” in your career plan involves excessive exposure to MS Word and Powerpoint as your “new” IDE then we should talk.
If you prefer VIM or EMACS to Visual Studio you are off to a good start. Being adept with Eclipse or NetBeans and knowing how to use SVN or GIT will not go unnoticed.
We invite you to submit your CV to careers@experience.ie. Better still, why not give Gerard Byrne (CEO) a call on +353-86-6006000 - he is always ready to talk to somebody with talent interested in joining the team.
Prerequisites for the job are:-
- SQL - proficiency in at least one of the major rDBs
- At least 4 years full-time developing in one of the following: Java/J2EE, PHP, Cold Fusion
- Minimum 1 year working experince with a dynamic language e.g. Python plus framework such as Django and/or Ruby plus experience with either Rails or Merb. Obviously Lisp, Smalltalk gets you over the line on this one too.
- You have been lead developer within the past 3 years on a project which is larger than 3 man-years in work effort. You have had at least two years experience with 2 or more developers working to your lead.
- Your previous current job title has ‘programmer’ or ‘developer’ in it - honestly these are coding jobs and you have got to want the role
- Your personal computer is running *BSD, Linux or Mac OS X and you would run to a terminal quicker than reaching for the mouse. We haven’t yet decided whether Open Solaris will meet this general requirement or not :-)
